Gain one more Kelvin of accuracy – calibrations for quality products

Calibration : Independent, DAkkS-accredited temperature sensor calibration

Precise measurements lie at the core of all high-quality industrial production processes. Rely on consistently unambiguous and verifiable measurement results with our competent calibration services performed at the DAkkS-accredited calibration laboratory CENTROCAL GmbH. Our services cover everything from calibration during production to recalibration of our own and third-party temperature sensors, including metrological analysis and consulting.
As a wholly owned subsidiary, CENTROCAL GmbH is independent and has been accredited for the temperature measurement category since 1993. We calibrate temperature sensors in the temperature range from -196°C to +1,500°C. As one of only a few calibration laboratories around, we perform calibrations under inert gas atmospheres and calibrate multi-point thermocouples and Profi-Bus measuring chains. Sensors can also be tested and calibrated in accordance with CQI-9 and AMS 2750 at CENTROCAL GmbH.

Calibrations are performed under virtually entirely automated conditions at our calibration laboratory. The calibration laboratory fully complies with the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025.

  • DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025
  • DAkkS accreditation
  • Variable calibration from -40°C to +1,500°C
  • Low-temperature calibration at -78°C and -196°C
  • Calibration performed under inert gas atmosphere
  • Calibration of multi-point thermocouples

Metrological consulting

We are happy to offer advice on all matters related to calibration in temperature measurement technology. Our experienced staff are able to draw on their vast expertise from performing numerous temperature measurements and calibrations for a wide variety of industries.

Metrological analysis

We analyze your product to uncover any failures or measurement errors. After recording the current condition and theoretically examining the potential reasons behind errors, the product undergoes a number of practical tests, which are documented in a final report or in direct consultation with the customer. This allows us to get to the root cause behind the issue and introduce solutions to remedy or avoid it step by step.

Calibrations and low-temperature calibration

Temperature sensors can be calibrated at variable temperatures from -40°C to +1,500°C at our calibration laboratory. Where required for low-temperature applications, our calibration laboratory is also able to calibrate sensors at -78°C and -196°C.

Internationally recognized DAkkS accreditation

Calibration certificates issued by DAkkS-accredited laboratories are recognized in most countries around the globe thanks to international agreements. Companies that operate on a global scale or international suppliers in particular can benefit from the cross-border competence of our calibration services.

Life calibration data management

The services offered by RÖSSEL-Messtechnik don’t stop at performing calibrations. We also compile sensor life calibration data to detect trends in calibrated readings and make recommendations for shorter calibration intervals or modifications.

Recalibration cycle monitoring and reminders

Our trained field service can monitor your recalibration cycles upon request. RÖSSEL-Messtechnik will inform you one month before the calibration expires to ensure you have enough time to act.

Why do temperature sensors need to be recalibrated on a regular basis?

Regular sensor recalibration is crucial for obtaining precise measurement results. By adopting a regular calibration schedule, you can avoid some of the inaccuracies that occur over the useful life of your sensors, as with all technical processes. Your car has its own inspection cycle (emissions test) to test emission of pollutants along with other factors. Temperature sensors need to be calibrated for the same reason not only during production, but also after one or two years in use, depending on the specifications from the customer’s quality assurance manual.
This is the only way to ensure unambiguous, verifiable measurement results.

However, recalibration cycles can be significantly extended by the use of certain finishing processes such as coatings.

Disassembling thermowells for calibration

In order to calibrate thermometers manufactured by us and third parties, we often first need to disassemble the thermowells. We do this as they are usually contaminated with foreign materials after use and this would prevent the calibration furnace from being used for future calibrations. Disassembly needs to be factored in when designing sensors and thermowells. At RÖSSEL-Messtechnik, we ensure everything is taken into consideration.

More information on the independent quality assurance of our calibration laboratory

In Germany, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (Federal Physical-Technical Institute) in Braunschweig and Berlin, is the country’s highest authority tasked with the realization and dissemination of units. It is partnered with national metrology institutes (NMIs) in other countries to ensure measurements are consistent around the globe. PTB is the technical supervisory authority for the laboratories organized by the German Calibration Service (DKD) and accredited by the German accreditation body DAkkS.
